Cancer Health and Wellness: Going Beyond Diagnosis and Current Treatments

Cancer diagnosis can be an immensely grueling process for patients. Associate that with the many negative side-effects of several types of treatment and you are faced with a very daunting experience. Cancer treatment itself is toxic and unfortunately millions of patients will suffer from the physical and psychological consequences of therapies. These types of therapies have advanced significantly over the last couple of decades, as they continue to progress we can hope to one day see a significant change in the efficiency and negation of the negative side effects that are still associated with treatments.

Fortunately, in recent years, research has supported the efficacy and safety of several types of exercise regiments during treatment and into survivorship. The benefits of exercise in cancer patients inversely match the negative side effects of cancer treatment. There have been major strides in understanding safe and effective exercise programs across several different cancer populations. From breast cancer, to colon cancer, to pre, during and post treatment. Exercise has been proven effective in managing side effects and increasing quality of life.
